If you were a pre-teen or teenager in the early 80's and you were a horror fan, you no doubt read Fangoria magazine. One of the coolest things was a secret contest in issue 14, in which there was a notice and the type was a font smaller than usual to bring attention to it. The first word of each line, when you focused on them, spelled out the secret hidden contest. That contest was kind of ingenious.
Here we are now, at the dawn of the It Came From Hollywood Book Series with Book 1 becoming available, and we thought we should have a contest to celebrate! Then we thought about that secret contest in Fangoria so long ago and we said, "No way are we going to go to that kind of trouble not to give away something! Let's go in the opposite direction. Let's make it the easiest contest ever!"
So here's what we're doing. We want to give away 5 copies of ICFH Book 1. This is a way to say thank you for your support and to have some fun. We really appreciate everyone who has traveled off of Facebook to visit us on our site. Moving forward there will be less activity on FB with all the action going on here at itcamefromhollywood.net.
Here's the contest: The first 5 people who email us their mailing address secures a free copy of ICFH Book 1. It's that simple!
Please send your info to itcamefromhollywood@gmail.com. And if you have a minute, we would love to hear a little bit about you, how you heard about It Came From Hollywood, if you read either of the two ICFH magazines we put out last year, and what kind of cinema you would be interested in reading in ICFH. Tell us about you, maybe your favorite films or genre, if you grew up going to the drive-ins or were a VHS freak, whatever. (Information is not required to qualify to win, just a mailing address.)
THE RULES: As much as we hate rules, we have to have them. 1) This contest is only open to residents of the continental United States. 2) The only way to qualify to win is to email your information to itcamefromhollywood@gmail.com. Information sent to any other email address or posted in the comments of this blog will not be honored. 3) One book per person. 4) The contest runs from now until Sunday February 6, at 11:59 PM. (Emails received after 11:59 PM February 6 will not be honored.) 5) Please allow 10 to 12 weeks for delivery. Do we really anticipate it taking that long? Well, no, but we never anticipated all the other crazy stuff that has happened in the world over the last couple of years either, so we have to cover ourselves. 6) Winners will be notified after the contest ends.
Good luck! Have an awesome weekend!
Paul & Rob
